Being the firstborn son to the renowned samurai & Hingan Lord, Orochiharu, Harunobu was afforded an excellent education. Despite his natural talent for studying books or tomes, he was pushed more towards mastering the blade like his father before him. Being pressed into study all the time, Harunobu was known to get into fights on behalf of his younger brother, Harushina Kurou, who was consistently bullied due to his feminine physique. These deeds earned Harunobu the moniker: Fool of Amahara.

When Harunobu was eighteen years old his father disowned and banished Harushina, leaving the frail boy to fend for himself on the streets. This action prompted both Harunobu and his sister, Haruhime to leave home in search of their lost sibling. This quest lasted far longer than either party had imagined, spanning six years as well as most of the known world. Along the way the pair had fought pirates, mercenaries, human traffickers, a dragon and everything in between. They even came to befriend a Xaela by the name of Oraborus Musa, who Harunobu now considers a brother.

With some help from Oraborus, the Kurou siblings were reunited with Harunobu and Harushina being especially inseparable. As a favor to Oraborus, the Kurous briefly assisted the yakuza family of Kurone, led by Almark Raine. However after the latter's death, the Kurou's quickly took their leave of the yakuza way of life. Unfortunately, their previous affiliation was still known to many upstart gangs wishing to make a name for themselves. These criminals were quickly dispatched by the Kurou's growing sphere of influence.

These actions gave way to a proposal from the Sekiseigumi. Harunobu and his companions would be given a long leash of authority to clean up the underground of Kugane and in return, the numerous warrants for Oraborus' arrest would be withdrawn. Harunobu accepted this compromise and as if to lure more criminals out into the open, he named their group Kurone, after the yakuza family they once served. While appearing entirely law abiding on the surface, Kurone's unique position has given rise to rumors of the new organization simply controlling crime much like their namesake did. Whether those rumors are true remains unknown.

  • There are rumors that he & his brother, Harushina are incestuous due to their closeness. But other rumors point to him being engaged to a Miyasuki Kazurai.

  • His swordplay is rumored to be so fast that it is imperceivable, this rumor is what gave birth to the monikier: 'The Eastern Wind'

  • Since returning to Hingashi, he has supposedly somehow come to lead a yakuza group. (Eastern criminal or Sekiseigumi players should DM me for info.)
